COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ? Residents near a lake in central Ohio say they fear for their pets? lives after reports that several dead animals have been pulled from the water in the past three weeks.
The Columbus Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/JbeIxQ ) that residents say the bodies of three cats and a dog have been extracted from Buckeye Lake, east of Columbus. A small white dog was also rescued alive from the lake?s overflow basin in an incident that some residents doubt was an accident.
A Buckeye Lake police officer tells WBNS-TV that similar incidents involving pets had happened too close together to be coincidental.
Resident Suzy Spencer told the television station that her cat was among the animals whose bodies were discovered in the lake. Her neighbor said the animal appeared to have been beaten.
