Details, details, details?there are just so many to share with you in today?s real wedding feature. Julianne of A Modern Proposal Event Planning helped Lydia & Justin achieve their dream wedding that just showcases a fun, charasmatic, yet quirky personalities. In a bright palette of green and yellow with hints of grey, you can?t help but love how the bride & bridesmaids carried a giant single bloom, the yummy cookie bar (because she loves to bake) and the fun spray painted toys in the wedding colors as table markers/centerpieces (a nod to their favorite items). You can tell it was a super fun wedding just by looking at the photos captured by Jeff Kwok. Enjoy!

How did you two meet?

We discovered we had a bunch of mutual friends and through that we?d actually became good friends for a number of years, and we weren?t interested in each other for the longest time. It?s funny now looking back where our friendship-turned-relationship took us, I never ever thought back then that he?d be the one I?d spend the rest of my life with, it?s funny how things can happen when you least expect it. It?s kind of funny because I?m sure I did things back then when we were were buddies that I would never do in front of a guy I was intersted in from the get go, but at least I can say he truly loves me for me :)

What was your inspiration behind your overall wedding decor and colour choices?

From the beginning, we wanted the vibe of our wedding to be something really different and quirky and fun, a wedding that reflected both of our personalities. We wanted as many elements in the wedding to reflect that, ranging from my paper flower bouquets (i?m not a flowers kind of gal, but I love crafting so it seemed proper to make my own and my BM bouquets), to our cookie bar (my family and friends know I love to bake), our wedding reception entrance, and our quirky centerpieces which included objects like a spray-painted He-Man and Battlecat, and rubix cube. We wanted our friends and family to have fun, share in laughs and just enjoy in celebrating with us.

Our color choices came about probably within minutes. Justin?s favorite color was green and he wanted that as one of the colors. I happen to like the color yellow for it?s cheerful vibe, and I decided ?hey, why not anchor the two colors together with grey as a neutral?, and that?s how we came with our color scheme: Grey and yellow, with accents of green. :)

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

There is just too many to pick, but I?m going to base it on the one event that day that caused tears to come down my face: My dad singing his own acapella rendition of Elvis Presley?s ?Love me Tender? during the wedding reception.

Do you have any advice for other brides/grooms-to-be?

The great thing about living in today?s age is the awesome access to resources online for wedding inspiration. Definitely take advantage of those channels, but at the end of the day, try to put a little personal spin of it on your own. Don?t feel confined to what you think you should do for your wedding, but do what reflects you and your bride/husband to be.

And lastly, don?t sweat the small stuff, no one but you is going to know if a detail at your wedding was missed. It?s not worth jepoardizing friendships/relationships for, and don?t get overwhelmed by the details that you can no longer enjoy the planning process. The most important thing at the wedding are the family and friends there, and the commitment made between the bride and groom; and I?m thankful that I can look back on my wedding and the planning process with great memories and appreciation of all the people that helped make it happen.
