iPhone 5 shows up with scratches and scuffs - News - Know Your Cell

Apple's iPhone 5 hit record sales over the weekend, but the hot new handset also struck a nerve with folks who received theirs complete with scratches and scuffs. According to a thread on MacRumors, several iPhone 5 buyers ended up with devices that were less than perfect right out of the box.

Those who opted for a black version seem to have encountered the issue more than those who chose the white model (perhaps because such marks are easier to spot on the black). Even the folks over at BGR received a new iPhone 5 with a flaw, noting that it had ?a tiny chip on the bottom of the black anodized aluminum antenna.?

It's one thing to have a new phone that's maybe prone to scratches and scuffs (as we've already seen with the iPhone 5), but to fork over a boatload of cash for one that's already dinged up? It's enough to make buyers feel cheated.?Of course, slapping a case over your iPhone 5 straight away should help keep those marks at bay; just be extra cautious when you slip it out to show it off.

Apple has yet to address the scuffing/scratching issue publicly; we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, head over to our Facebook page and let us know if you picked up an iPhone 5 over the weekend.?
