With another exhibition game completed and another win (6-3 against the Winkler Flyers) the Virden Oil Capitals appear to be well on their way to a great inaugural season.
Our team?s next two exhibition games are away games when they play the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on September 13th at the Waywayseecappo Arena Complex and September 15th when they head to the Swan Valley Centennial Arena to take on the Swan Valley Stampeders.
The Virden Oil Capitals return to Tundra Oil and Gas Place on Monday, September 17th when they play their last exhibition game of the season against the Swan Valley Stampeders.
The first regular season game is at home against the Dauphin Kings on September 21st.
All Virden Oil Capitals games start at 7:30pm.
While we are waiting for the next Virden Oil Capitals game there is other action taking place in the Arena.
Today from 5pm-5:50pm there is Sticks and Pucks.
If you are playing hockey this season or just like to shoot some pucks around take advantage of the ice time today. Virden Minor Hockey, the VCI Golden Bears hockey, the Virden Oil Kings hockey and several fun leagues all start their seasons shortly.
Also, if you are one of the large group of skaters taking part in the programs offered by Skate Virden you have never really stopped your on ice season in the Arena.
For those who haven?t been walking indoors lately the new Sports Track on the Arena concourse makes exercising fun. (Sort of. It?s still exercise.) The cushioned surface is a big improvement over walking on the previous concrete surface.
Coming this weekend there is the Manitoba Ranch Rodeo Finals being held at the Agricultural Grounds. Friday?s action begins at 7pm and Saturday the action begins at Noon.
Also on Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is the Virden Showcase Hockey Tournament taking place in the Arena of Tundra Oil and Gas Place.
Start times are 5:30pm on Friday, September 14th, 1:00pm on Saturday, September 15th and Noon on Sunday, September 16th.
We hope you have time for some fun today.
Come visit us. We are always happy to see you.
